The NAS are a nationally recognised body dedicated to the researching, recording and protection of our nautical heritage. In the year 2000, with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund the NAS set up the Adopt A Wreck Scheme. The scheme was set up in order to encourage the public, i.e. dive clubs, various organisations and individuals to actively record one or more of the sites they visit.
In 2021 Anglian Divers signed up for the Adopt A Wreck Scheme and in turn have now adopted the wreck of what is possibly that of the steamship Ethel at position 52 53 740 N / 001 31 689 E.
Please note that diving on this site and in turn a record of Anglian Divers findings will be an ongoing process as further research and surveying of the site continues onwards from the summer of 2022.
